About me, Jasmin Jung, Jasmin Jung – gemologist and expert for coloured gemstones

I am Jasmin Jung, gemologist as well as diamond and gemstone appraiser and the founder of Schmuckzicke. For more than three decades I have been dealing with gemstones, diamonds and high-quality jewellery. My particular passion is coloured gemstones. I completed my training as a diamond and gemstone appraiser in 1990 at the German Gemmological Society in Idar-Oberstein. Since then, gemstones have accompanied me professionally and personally. 

Experience that sharpens the eye for quality 

In the course of my work, I was able to get to know an extraordinary variety of gemstones and pieces of jewellery. I was particularly influenced by my years in various Munich auction houses, where around 10,000 pieces of jewellery were processed for catalogues and auctions every year. This experience has decisively sharpened my eye for gemstone quality, workmanship and special pieces of jewellery. For me, a valuable gemstone is not just big or expensive. The interplay of its properties is decisive: colour, transparency, clarity, cut, origin, treatment and rarity. 

My passion for coloured gemstones

 I am particularly fascinated by high-quality coloured gemstones because no two natural stones are exactly the same. Rubies, sapphires and emeralds inspire me just as much as extraordinary stones such as Paraiba tourmalines, alexandrites, spinels, tsavorites or tanzanites. When choosing, I don't just look for the largest or most expensive stone. I look for special gemstones with character. Sometimes it's an extraordinary colour. Sometimes the fascinating light effect. Sometimes the rarity. And sometimes it's that certain something that can hardly be put into words.

 Expertise and passion

 For me, expertise, experience and passion are inseparable. When I judge a gemstone, I don't just want to know what it is. I want to understand what makes it special. Is it natural? Has it been treated? What is its quality? What is the significance of its origin? And what factors influence its value? These questions also play an important role in high-quality and rare investment gemstones. My aim is not only to accompany my customers in the purchase of a special piece of jewellery, but also to provide them with the knowledge that helps them to consciously assess a gemstone and understand its special features.

With Schmuckzicke, I have created a place where my passion for high-quality coloured gemstone jewellery, special gemstones and extraordinary jewellery comes together. I select the jewellery and gemstones with great care and only want to offer what I am convinced of. Because for me, an extraordinary gemstone is more than a beautiful piece of nature. It has character, history and a very unique charisma. And it is precisely this fascination that I would like to share with you.
