The name tourmaline comes from the Sinhalese word tura mali, which means "a mixed-colored stone", for the mineralogist tourmalines are simply a group of minerals of the silicates (borosilicate).
The color nuances are varied from colorless, red, pink, green, yellow, blue to black.
